Doberman Pinscher and Wobblers Syndrome

This is our first doberman pinscher, her name is Diablo.  She is AKC registered (as all my dobies are).  We got her for our 3rd anniversary (a gift to each other).  She is 9 years and almost 5 months old.  About two years ago we discovered that she has something called Wobbler's Syndrome.  It is a very, very sad disease.  It effects the spine, which in turn effects the limbs of the animal.

Now when you see an extremely strong Doberman start to fall down for, what seems like, no reason it does a number on you.  I have seen my beautiful Diablo fall, trip over her own feet, get knocked down by another dog/s.  It is heartbreaking, I miss my gallon of water toting, tug-of-war loving, obedience dog.  My husband and I have decided that the minute she is in pain we will not be selfish and keep her here.

I took her through many obedience classes (more than she really needed).  We taught and were examples for obedience classes.  She was so well behaved that she was a Pet Therapy Dog.  We went around to hospitals and nursing homes to visit.  It was a wonderful experience.  Diablo has been a very wonderful example of what the Doberman Pinscher breed is all about.
