My Gastric Bypass journey in pictures.

A few years ago a friend of mine had Lap Band surgery.  It got me to thinking about my own weight and health.  By 2013 I was almost 300 pounds and had many health problems including Type 2 Diabetes, Sleep Apnea, and much more.  Not to mention how horrible I felt all the time.  I was always tired, never felt good, there were even many, many mornings I woke up and would throw up.  I was just MISERABLE!!

So in the first part of 2014 I started a new journey in my life.  I made the decision to have Gastric Bypass surgery.  There was a LOT of paperwork and doctors to deal with, but it has all been worth it!!

The Bariatric doctors office weighed me in August of 2014 and I was a whopping 291.5 lbs with a BMI of 48.5.  In the past I had tried so much to lose the weight and nothing and I mean NOTHING worked for me.  I was sickened by my own body.

I had my surgery November 5, 2014 and immediately started seeing results.  Two weeks exactly from my surgery my doctor told me that my diabetes was GONE!  They said it was like I never even had diabetes.  That alone has made the whole process worth it!  I have since been taken off four different medications, two of which were for high blood pressure.

I am now just over 100 pounds lighter and I feel so much better.  I find myself doing things I wouldn't do before.  I no longer parking lot "stalk", I don't look for the closest space.  When I see a space I take it.  I don't mind walking the few extra steps.  I now feel like doing things, I don't feel sick and tired.  I am working out.  I just feel better about myself all around.  Most people have noticed a change in my self-esteem.

Sadness in our home.

This is our beautiful Diablo.  She was the first doberman we ever owned.  This pretty girl turned me into a dog person.  I trained her in obedience, we won a few ribbons together.  She took and passed the Canine Good Citizen test from the AKC.

Diablo was such a wonderful dog.  She was born April 11, 2002.  We had to put her to sleep on April 2, 2012.  She was just days away from her 10th birthday.  Our hearts are broken, but I believe we should still celebrate her birthday.

A friend of mine posted this on my facebook wall.  It is very fitting to our situation.

If it should be I grow frail and weak, and pain prevents my peaceful sleep,
Then you must do what must be done, when my last battle can't be won.
You will be sad, I understand and selfishness might stay your hand.
But on this day, more than the rest, your love and friendship take the test.
We've had so many happy years, that what's to come can hold no fears.
You'd not want me to suffer. So, when t...he time comes, please let me go.
Take me where my needs they'll tend, but promise to stay with me until the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me until my eyes no longer see.
I know, in time, you, too, will see, that is was a kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail last has waved, from pain and suffering I've been saved.

Do not grieve it is you who must decide this thing to do.
We've been so close, we two, these years, don't let your heart hold any tears.

The finished product!

I posted a sneak peek yesterday, here is the finished product!  I can't remember what blog I got this idea from, so if you know or it is you let me know so I can give credit where credit is due.

These snowmen bags are made by Wilton, I picked them up at Kroger.  (I know, a bit random.)  All other bags I used are made by the Christmas Shoppe (I will be posting pics of those later).

I went to Wal-Mart to pick up some small items to put in these.  I just grabbed some kisses, peppermint patties, Reese cups, candy canes, and peppermints, oh I also picked up some Christmas pencils they had on sale.

The other blog called this a RACK=Random Acts of Christmas Kindness.  They were trying to get their kids to think about someone other than themselves at this time of year.  This was just one idea they listed.  So what I plan to do it is hand these out to underpaid, overworked folks.

So here is what my sneak peek was all about.  I will try to post a pick of all four different bags tomorrow.

Sneak Peeks

I know I haven't posted in a very long time.  But we all know how crazy life can get.  I just wanted to give a sneak peek at something I just started working on.  I am pretty excited to see the finished product.

     So far I have used:

  •  Studio g red ink
  •  Stampabilites green pigment ink pad
  •  the Paper Studio White Cardstock
  •  Threading Water border punch
  •  Stampabilites "Merry Christmas" stamp

I picked up the Cardstock and the stamp at Hobby Lobby.  I am so glad I picked up the Merry Christmas stamp!  I just think it is so pretty.

Well here is my sneak peek, keep checking back for the finished product!  I am hoping to have a few done and posted tomorrow evening.
